Are you doing a Christmas Countdown? Having started my preparations for the holiday season, I was thrilled to see the new Christmas titles arriving at the library. Looking for a light and humorous read, I checked out The Twelve Topsy-turvy, Very Messy Days of Christmas. It was so good – I stayed up late to finish the book!
Henry, Will and Ella are now a family of three, having lost their mother on Christmas Day five years ago. Henry is not adapting to widowhood and is dragging his kids down with him. With good intentions and perhaps some self-seeking, Ella and Will sign their father up on a dating site. Ella and Will may get their Christmas presents, but perhaps not in the way they were hoping. And Henry gets a magical gift himself.
Adapting the Christmas carol the Twelve Days of Christmas, Patterson and Safran have us singing this tune, while reading about the antics the Sullivan family “enjoy” while receiving 12 unique Christmas presents.
Read alikes for this would be John Grisham’s Skipping Christmas or if you are in the mood for a Christmas movie, try downloading the movie adaptation Christmas with the Kranks, using our free digital service – Hoopla.
Happy Holiday Reading!
