Katharine McGee gives us the anticipated sequel we have all been anxiously waiting for with her newest novel Majesty! If you have been counting the days to escape back into the glittering, romantic and highly entertaining world of American Royals then be sure to pick this book up on your next trip into the library.
In this second installment of the series, we find the people of America are still adjusting to the idea of a queen on the throne, while Beatrice Washington is grappling with everything she lost when she became America’s first queen. Despite the fact that Beatrice has now gained the ultimate position of power in her country, she has never felt less in control of her life. She quickly learns that being the queen is not all pretty dresses, crown jewels and lavish parties. More like oppressive responsibility and constant judgement. It is a full time job that takes dedication, hard work and endless sacrifices all in the name of America and its citizens. Beyond her political work, Beatrice is also struggling with her love life because she is currently engaged to Teddy, while being head-over-heels in love with her personal body guard, Connor. This situation itself would be hopelessly complicated enough, but Beatrice’s younger sister Samantha has strong feelings for Teddy herself, and the relationship of the two sisters is quickly deteriorating from her rising anger at Beatrice for planning to marry the man she loves.
This novel picks up just weeks after where the first book finished, giving the characters all a moment to breathe after the death of the King, but stays true to all the previously established dynamics. Fans of the first book will positively adore jumping right into this sequel to catch up with all their beloved characters once again.
If you are looking for a royally good read or just can’t get enough of real life royals like Will and Kate, or Harry and Meghan than this book and series is for you!
