Celebrating Asian Heritage Month Through Books

Celebrating Asian Heritage Month Through Books

By Jennifer Robinson

May is Asian Heritage Month in Canada—a time to celebrate the diverse cultures, histories, and contributions of Canadians of Asian descent. It’s also the perfect time to explore books written by and for members of this rich and multifaceted community. Whether through fiction that immerses us in lived experiences or nonfiction that unpacks history, identity, and belonging, reading is a powerful way to connect across cultures and understand the complex layers of Canadian life. By choosing stories that centre Asian voices, we not only honour heritage—we expand our empathy, our knowledge, and our sense of community.
