1000 Books Before Kindergarten
1000 Books Before Kindergarten promotes reading to children under the age of 5 and encourages parent and child bonding in a fun and innovative way.
The concept is simple, the rewards are priceless. Read books to your newborn, infant, toddler or preschooler. The goal is to read 1,000 books before they start kindergarten. It’s easier than you think! If you read just 1 book a day, you’ll read 365 books in a year. That’s 730 books in two years and 1,095 books in three years! If you consider that most children start kindergarten at around 5 years of age, you have more time than you think.
Keep track of the books that you read with your child. Every time you read 100 books, visit your library branch to pick up a prize and add your child’s name to our brag wall. After reading 1000 books your child will receive a certificate and prize.
Tracking forms can be picked up at any branch of the L&A Libraries or printed at the link below.
